We caught up with Nickelodeon star Miranda Cosgrove in the recording studio last week with Pharrell. The talented star of iCarly—who is also known for her role opposite Jack Black in 2003’s The School of Rock—is in high demand. In addition to shooting her sitcom, Cosgrove, 16, will drop her second "more mature" album in mid-April. She’s also starring in the animated movie Despicable Me opposite funnyman Steve Carell. This singer, actress and songwriter spoke to Kidult on camera about recording her new album, what’s coming up on the rest of iCarly’s season, and the philanthropic cause she holds close to her heart.

Here’s a sample of our conversation. Watch the full interview in the video below:

Can we expect your next album to be more mature than your previous iCarly soundtracks?

The songs are definitely a lot more mature because with the iCarly soundtrack it was like my first time going in the studio and I was like 12 or 13. Now I’m 16. I’ve been working on the album for a year and a half and I think the songs are much different than the songs on the iCarly album.

What's coming up on iCarly?

More kissing, more romances. Lets see, what else? Oh, I’ve been getting to do more stunts—that's been fun. I got to wear a harness recently and fly around like Peter Pan. That was cool. Its funny because I didn’t realize how much I was going to miss it. I’ve been filming for the last two years, and now that we’ve been away for three months I’ve really missed it a lot. So I’m excited to go back.

What cause or causes are important to you?

I’ve done a lot of work with St. Judes, which has been really cool. I got to go to Memphis, to the hospital, and meet a lot of cool kids. I loved getting to do that.

Is it important to you to use your celebrity to help the less fortunate?

A lot of kids watch my show so I guess they look up to me. When they see me out there doing things, they know they can, too. Also, when people think about charity, they think of having to do work. Actually, all of charity work I’ve done has been a lot of fun.

Nicely done. Miranda is defenitely a role model for not only her efforts to succeed amidst her dreams, but as human being who seemingly exudes humility and a better existence for life on this planet.
