The Kidult Youth Leadership Conference was such an invigorating and comforting experience. After dancing and singing along to all of my favorite tracks with Pharrell and all of the other kidults at the end of the conference, I walked out of that venue with a stronger sense of self and hope.
Lately, I've been struggling with myself and questioning my ability to create a fruitful future for myself and my family. I've always obediently accepted my responsibility as a member of my unique family but after college, I began to develop a stronger voice [that I used very often] to speak out about topics that I used to conceal in the deepest corners of my mind.
Through out my life I've always felt different. I definitely embraced my differences until I slowly started to feel like an outsider. I'd join in on conversations with my friends but felt my mind drifting off on occasion because I just could not relate. I've always felt that I had the ambition and work ethic to take me places but I was in desperate need of direction. Direction....
Some advice that I received during the conference that really hit home was to always have a purpose, knowing and believing in yourself is key and understanding that you have to take care of yourself first in order to take care of others will contribute greatly to my future success. So much of what the speakers spoke about revitalized my own philosophies and rejuvenated my thirst for life. Hearing Pharrell speak about how important it was to utilize the advice we were given throughout the conference and being told that he had faith in kidults like us to move forward made me feel invincible. The conference was really a catalyst that propelled my passion to LIVE on another level.
What an amazing day.

I wish I was able to attend the conference, but I truly enjoy hearing the motivating influence it had on Kidults like you. I will definitely be there next year to experience it! =)
Thanks guys!!! I'm definitely on the look out for more events and I hope to meet everyone :)
It was so nice to meet you Dee. And to think, you almost didn't make it to the conference, lol! Reading everyone's comments on here, Facebook and Twitter confirms that we definitely need to do more events.
